Throughout the weekend, there will be many planned – as well as impromptu – social events. Some are age-specific, some are for everyone. Please take advantage of these events to meet new friends and join in the fun!
Gala Opening Dinner
This 3-hour event Friday evening will celebrate the grand opening of CWD's first international conference and exhibition! Dinner and non-alcoholic beverages will be available right by the Exhibit area with seating both indoors and outdoors. This will be a social and high-energy event with all of the conference participants, adults and children alike. Welcome to CWD's Friends for Life!
Scavenger Hunt for Elementary and Tween Groups
Our CWD elementary and tween staff run a brilliant Scavenger Hunt! They will have the kids inside and out, scouring the Beaumont property for details and asking the exhibitors and sponsors for just the right piece of information! It is structured for both fun and learning – and the kids will have a blast!
Family and Friends BBQ – Wizards and Witches Style!
This Saturday evening dinner event will include a BBQ with a Wizards and Witches theme, so be sure to dress appropriately (remember your magic wand!). The evening will feature a delicious buffet dinner and some wonderful and fun activities! This will be a superb not-to-be-missed event, attended by all participants, faculty, and sponsors. Make sure you stick around for the special dessert bar! After dessert, enjoy great conversation with friends on the patio while the kids play outdoors.
Saturday Teen Social
After the Wizards and Witches BBQ, teens have their own space to enjoy the evening in the Balmoral Lounge at the Beaumont. Listen to music, dance, hang out with new friends – it's all part of Saturday night at Friends for Life for the teenagers! No parents allowed (there will be chaperones), teens only, please! Ages 13-17.
On Sunday after breakfast, the teens will have a Field Day on the grounds of the Beaumont. Activities will range from football, bocce tournaments, tennis, and jogging along the 2 mile path ... to sitting and enjoying the beautiful day and having conversation with friends. Lunch will be on site at the Beaumont. After lunch, the teens have a choice of continuing with Field Day on site, or visiting Windsor for the afternoon for a browse through the shops or a ride on the Windsor Wheel.
CWD Sports Central
Activity and exercise are key components of good health for anyone, and we like to support that at Friends for Life with an area that we call Sports Central. At the Beaumont House, Sports Central will feature areas to play football (soccer), volleyball, badminton, and tennis. There will also be areas for the younger children to enjoy an obstacle course, a playground, and a fort!
A CWD Friends for Life conference is also very much about friends -- making new and reconnecting with old
Kids have a great time on the Scavenger Hunt (and they learn about diabetes too!)
Many CWD families include grandparents
The last day is not farewell -- it's "see you next time" -- at least for many CWD teens, who've grown up with each other, conference after conference
