Exhibitor's Reception Featuring Gary Hall, Jr.
Join with Olympic Gold Medalist Gary Hall, Jr., in opening the Exhibit Hall in the Coronado Ballroom on Wednesday evening from 5:30 - 9:00pm. Gary will meet the kids individually (yes, and the parents, too), pose for photos, and hand out autographed posters. It's a tremendous opportunity to come face to face with an Olympic champion who tames his diabetes daily to be one of the best swimmers in the world. BanquetJoin Minnie, Mickey and the Pump Girls at this Disney-themed evening event from 6:00 - 9:00 pm on Thursday in the Fiesta Ballroom. This event features Welcome Visits by Minnie, Mickey, and Goofy as attendees arrive, Welcome Address by Betty Brackenridge, author of Sweet Kids, and Keynote Address by Michael Bliss, world-renowned author of The Discovery of Insulin. A scrumptious buffet dinner will be served, followed by the energizing music of the Pump Girls! Additional visits, meetings, and photo opportunities with Disney characters will end the banquet. Bring your camera and get ready for the smiles!
Following the Thursday evening Banquet, teens are invited to dance the night away in the Fiesta Ballroom (from 9:00 p.m. to midnight). Music will be provided by a Disney DJ, and getting-to-know-you ice breakers will start off the event. An ice cream sundae bar and beverages will be provided. Children With Diabetes Foundation Fundraiser EventAn Adults-Only Evening at Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island is on for Friday night! Have dinner and dance at the Rock 'N Roll Beach Club, while your children participate in other planned events back at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort or at Epcot®. Finish the evening at any of the other Pleasure Island entertainment venues (including comedy, rock-n-roll, jazz, country). Enjoy the street performers and great shopping. All proceeds from this event benefit the CWD Foundation and the search for a cure! TheraSense is pleased to be the Platinum sponsor of the Children with Diabetes Foundation Fundraiser evening.
Fun-Vention Beach Party for Kids!
Jamaica Ya Crazy! Friday evening, while the adults spend the evening at the Children with Diabetes Fundraiser at Pleasure Island, children ages 3-12 may participate in a Disney Beach Party at the Disney's Coronado Springs Resort Convention Center, hosted by the FunVention childcare staff. Dancing, games, dinner and snacks will be provided at this beach-themed party! (Note: This is a childcare activity for children whose parents are at the CWD Foundation event at Pleasure Island. Tickets may not be purchased individually.) Parents are responsible for the diabetes care of their children (blood glucose testing and insulin administration); dinner will be served to the children right at the beginning of the event so parents can see how much is eaten and give insulin appropriately. Certified Diabetes Educators will be on hand in case of emergency. Parents should feel free to "pop in" on their children any time throughout the evening. Pleasure Island is a short drive (or Disney bus ride) from the hotel. Disetronic is pleased to sponsor this event.
Teen Night at Epcot®On Friday, while the adults spend the evening at Pleasure Island and the younger kids have their own beach party at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, teens age 12 and older can enjoy a chaperoned evening at Epcot® Dinner will be purchased at World Showcase dining venues and snack bars. Enjoy the Epcot® attractions until 9:00pm, at which time the group will view the phenomenal Illuminations laser and fireworks show. Complimentary transportation will be via Disney bus. This event is held in conjunction with the CWD Foundation evening and is for teens only (tickets may not be purchased separately)! Novo Nordisk is pleased to sponsor this event. There is no cost to teens (although they may bring souvenir and snack money). Please note that in addition to adult chaperones, Certified Diabetes Educators will be with the group in case of medical concerns. Teens will be responsible for their own blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration.
Meet the Experts Reception
Conference participants will mingle outdoors in a patio setting with the Diabetes Team and other conference presenters during this one-hour reception Friday at the close of the professional sessions. Family Day at Magic Kingdom® ParkSaturday is Magic Kingdom® day! Don your Diabetes123 conference T-shirt and some sunscreen and head for Cinderella Castle! Ride Space Mountain and continue the fun with other favorite characters at the Crystal Palace. Stay for the afternoon and evening parades, and enjoy the fireworks over Cinderella Castle at dusk! The choices are endless! Saturday is early entry day for Disney guests, so get a good night's sleep! Character meals at the Crystal Palace, Cinderella Castle, and The Liberty Tavern are available to conference attendees. Admission tickets are required and must be purchased by families individually. Friends and Family Golf OutingJoin colleagues and new-found friends on the 18-hole, award-winning Disney's Osprey Ridge Golf Course Sunday morning. Continental breakfast will be provided prior to tee-off. The format of the outing will be determined by the number and skill level of players. Families are most definitely welcome!
Sunday Afternoon at the PoolThe conference is over. Relax poolside at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and cement those new professional and family friendships.
