On Saturday, most of our conference families headed to Universal Orlando. The day began with a waffles-n-eggs breakfast (thank you to Maple Grove Farms for supplying all of the sugar free syrups and jams, as well as the gluten free waffle mix!) to get everyone prepared carb-wise for the long day at the park!

Families had a choice of parks: Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure. Since the teens had visited Islands the day before as part of their teen program, Universal Studios had the larger CWD crowd. Most everywhere one looked, a sea of butter-yellow conference shirts was visible! The weather was – hot hot hot – and at lunchtime, it was nice to leave the park for a reprieve in the air conditioned restaurants along CityWalk. CWD had a special BBQ from noon to 2:00 in CityWalk, and it was great to catch up and hear 'park stories' over BBQ chicken and corn on the cob – in the cool air! CWD's Mike Schurig spent weeks arranging the details of this very special day, including all of the Guest Assistance Cards. Kudos, Mike! It was a great day.

After dinner, as families trickled back from the park via chartered bus, there was an impromptu musical concert in one of the Renaissance sitting areas. Several of our teens and young adults – Ruta from Lithuania, Anton from Russia, and Nikki from California – are quite talented musicians. They entertained the group of listeners which spontaneously grew to fill the hallway. It was moving and magical; one of those moments which one can never plan, but which happen and leave a lasting memory.
