Red Bird Retreat
The American Diabetes Association Red Bird Retreat is a fall two day/one or two night family event. This retreat is for children with diabetes between the ages of 5-13, their parents, and a sibling within the same age group. The Red Bird Retreat focuses on younger, newly diagnosed children who could benefit from camp but do not want to be away from their parents for an entire week. Held at scenic Trout Lodge, activities include horseback riding, hiking, campfire and family games.

Location: Trout Lodge, Potosi, MO
Camper Ages: 5-13
Camp Fees: $40 per person per night

American Diabetes Association Camp EDI - The Gloria Hirsch Camp for Children with Diabetes
The American Diabetes Association Camp EDI name is an acronym formed from the three cornerstones of a healthy, active lifestyle for children with diabetes: Exercise, Diet and Insulin. Camp EDI resident sessions are held at Camp Mihaska in Bourbon, MO. The primary goal of the camp program is to teach children with diabetes how to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle. While having fun with other children. Campers learn more about diet, exercise and medication, producing self-confidence and independence. Activities at Camp EDI include crafts, swimming, fishing, ropes course, caving, hiking and group sports. Financial assistance and camp discounts are available to qualifying applicants.

Full Session: July 26 - August 2, 2009 (ages 9 - 15); $650
Counselor in Training: July 26 - August 2, 2009 (ages 16 - 17); $650
Mini Session: July 29 - August 2, 2009 (ages 7 - 10); $350
