From Florida, USA:
My daughter is 20 months old. She was diagnosed with IDDM when she was 2 1/5 months. We are thinking about taking her to day care. Is there a special day care center for her? If not, can you give suggestions on what to look for in a day care center?
United States federal law requires licensed day care facilities to take care of children with diabetes.
The American Diabetes Association has discussed day care problems, and has an e-mail address to write to:
The ADA urges all parents who experience difficulty with day care providers to use the KinderCare and La Petite diabetes policies. For a copy, please contact (703) 299-2059 or send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
