Question: From St. Louis, Missouri, USA:
I am 20 years old and a Type 1 diabetic for the last 6 years. I am 4 1/2 months pregnant and they keep talking about putting me on the insulin pump to try to keep my blood sugars under control. My diabetic doctor recently died and I can no longer ask for his advice. What are the pros and cons to the pump in my situation?
Answer:
An insulin pump is a worthwhile idea for managing pregnancies in women with diabetes, if you will be managed by a diabetes team that's used to them.
