From Vienna, Virginia, USA:
My 13 1/2 year-old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was 12 1/2 years old. She seems to have stopped growing, height-wise, and I wonder if the diabetes could be the cause. She has started her period about the same time she was diagnosed with diabetes.
It is normal for girls to have their growing spurt just before the menarche. In other words they stop growing soon after they begin to have periods. It's not the diabetes.
