From Tahlequah, Oklahoma, USA:

I am a 47 year old female who has had typeá2 diabetes for about 12 years, and I have been taking oral medication for the last two years. Does diabetes affect one's sex drive?

Diabetes, when it is out of control, can decrease your sex drive. In addition, if you are experiencing irregular periods, menopause may also occur around your current age and have an effect on your sex drive. If you are also on medications to lower your blood pressure, these can also lower sex drive.
