From the United Kingdom:
Please advise the procedure for disposal of used needles in the UK.
Unfortunately, there is no set procedure, and it will vary. We have a system where we supply people with insulin-treated diabetes a needle disposal bin and also a Safe-Clip (which is available on prescription). Some GP's will dispose of the bins but others refuse. If GP's refuse, then we ask patients to bring in the bins when they next attend the clinic, and we will dispose of them.
You should check out what the procedure is with your hospital team, and, if there isn't a policy, persuade them to develop one.
