From Brevard, North Carolina, USA:

Our 16 year old daughter, who has had type 1 diabetes since the age of seven and is on a pump, has an A1c of about 8%, and she is interested in going to a tanning bed. Other than the obvious concerns associated with tanning beds, are there any other things we need to know that could affect her condition before we make our final decision?

I don't think your daughter's type 1 diabetes, per se, or her use of an insulin pump, per se, has any real bearing on using a tanning bed.
