Question:

From Ontario, Canada:

What is the benefit of taking Glyburide 5mg and Metformin HCL 500mg at the same time?

Answer:

Both glyburide and metformin lower blood sugars. They work by different mechanisms so they are complementary to one another. It appears you can give the combination at lower doses for each drug than you can as a single agent. It means there are two medications to follow, each with their own side effect profile and benefit.
