From Washington, DC, USA:

Do you have to be losing weight as one of the symptoms for diabetes, or could you just be very thirsty, hungry, and urinate often? Do diabetics usually lose weight before diagnosis?

The typical symptoms of diabetes in kids and teens are losing weight, excessive thirst, excessive hunger and frequent urination. If you have any of these symptoms, I would suggest that you talk to your parents and get in right away to see your pediatrician.
