Hi! My name is Kristen Wright. I am 8 1/2 years old, and I live in Huntsville, Alabama. I have had diabetes since I was 6. I have two sisters: Kaylyn 3, and Megan almost 2.
I went to Camp Seale Harris in Jackson Gap, Alabama last summer. The nurses taught me how to give my shots and prick my finger by myself. I am planning to go back this summer.
My babysitter has diabetes too, we try to help each other. Diabetes isn't so bad, you still get to do everything other kids do except eat regular candy. My mom said I got very sick, and she took me to the doctor. The doctor didn't check for diabetes and said I had a stomach virus. When I finally got to the hospital, my sugar was over 900, and another doctor said that I was nearly in a diabetic coma. I stayed in the hospital for 4 days, and I have been fine ever since!
I take 3 shots every day. I play softball every year, I play for the Yellow Jackets. Me and my cousin, Morgan, are on the same team. My cousin Christian plays softball, but she lives in Arab, Alabama, on another team.
