Hi! My name is Mandy. I'm 13 years old and from Nebraska, USA. I love skateboarding I do it all the time. Some of my favorite hobbies are skateboarding, listening to music, talking on the phone, walking around town with friends, being on MSN and drawing. And lots more too! I have 1 cat named Molly and one baby brother name Nickaiya.
HOW IT ALL STARTED:
I was diagnosed with diabetes in June 1993. I was 20 months old, my blood sugar was 1,064! My parents took me to the doctor because I was not feeling well. The doctor told them it was a strange case of pneumonia. He told my parents they did not need to test my blood sugar during the night, but they did anyway and it was 24! So they loaded me up and took me to a different doctor and that doctor helped me and then I was flown to Lincoln to the hospital in a helicopter. The doctor grabbed me out of my mom's arms. I was within 10 minutes of dying.
SHOTS AND INSULIN:
I take Humilin and Humalog insulin. I give myself shots, I started doing that about when I was 8 years old. I take 3-4 shots per day.
HELP AND CONTACT:
I used to be really good and caring about my diabetes but now I just don't really care about it. I want someone to talk to to help me get things starightened out and my life back in order. My mom keeps telling me the outcome of what could happen but I just don't listen.
So anyone who would like to talk to me I'd love to talk to you. Please e-mail me back. Thanks a bunch! My e-mail address is
