Hey there! My name is Kimberlee, and I live in California, USA. I'm fourteen years old and I'm in the 9th grade. I've had diabetes for about 4 years now (ever since I was 9 years old) and I take 4 insulin shots a day. I also live with my grandparents, but I do have two younger brothers too.
When I first got diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on July 30, 2000, my blood sugar was 415 mg/dl. Before I went got to the doctors, the symptoms I had were extreme thirst, hunger, tiredness, and I was also nauseated. My mom, since she got diabetes 6 months before me, recognized these symptoms and brought me to the doctors soon after. I had to stay in the hospital for four days, and during those days I had to learn all about diabetes with my family, and I also learned how to test my blood and take shots by myself. It was really scary at first, knowing that I'd have to live with this for the rest of my life, but I've gotten used to it, and it really isn't that bad. I just have to take really good care of myself. Make sure you do that too.
My interests are Harry Potter, role-playing, reading, writing, listening to alternative rock music, playing video & computer games, and going on the Internet. I also like Lord of the Rings and a lot of other stuff that has to do with fantasy. For video games, I like Pokemon and Magic the Gathering (except I only like the games and collecting the cards). That's about it. If you want to e-mail me, my address is
sardonicferret AT aol.com. I can't wait to hear from you. Bye!
