"Middle School here I come!!!!!"
Hi, my name is Elaine and I'm 12 years old. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on October 2002.
Having Diabetes is NOT the best thing in the world. It's a lot of work, and you have to be very watchful on what you eat. I have a MiniMed 512 pump. I love the pump I can eat candy a lot more often, and it still keeps my blood sugar level in range. I used to take two shots a day. The shots did not hurt but it was just painful to give myself shots every day before breakfast and before dinner. But with the pump I only get a shot every 3 days and that's it. I prick my fingers 5-8 times a day.
Thankfully I have awsome friends who support me with my illness, and a great family as well. I go to the walk every year, and every year we raise money and make team T-Shirts. I always have friends, family members, etc., go to the walk. The Diabetes Walk-A-Thon has become a family event. It feels awsome to feel that you are getting that much closer for a cure for Juvinielle Diabetes.
You can contact me at my E-Mail Address: sugartwist93[@]bellsouth.net. reply to your messages in a matter of seconds after I receive it.
Hope to hear from you soon,
