Hi, I am Tony. I am 15 years old. I am newly diagnosed. I was diagnosed on December 28, 2003. When I first heard that I had diabetes I was kind of sad because my grandfather had it and the cause of his death was diabetes.I spent two night in the hospital. They gave me IV fluids because I was really dehydrated, and they gave me insulin. I got used to taking shots -- it feels like a 5-year-old is pinching you.
I like to play soccer. My position is Stopper. I live in the U.S.A. in Tennessee. I was born in Cairo, Egypt. I speak Arabic and English. I help control my diabetes by exercising or playing soccer.
All I want to say to the newly diagnosed people is it is not hard to manage your diabetes. Diabetes isn't fun, but you have to get used to taking shots or using pumps and testing your blood sugar level.
