My name is Marissa. I am 12 years old and was diagnosed on September 25th, 2005. I have a little sister and a Mini Schnauzer named Freddie. I am 12 years old and do ballet, choir, piano, and art classes.
My mom and dad didn't notice that I was drinking more water and going to the bathroom more because we live in Las Vegas, which is in the middle of the desert. When I was on the couch unresponsive my parents were really worried. They took me to UMC and within 5 minutes they had called an ambulance. All that I remember from that day was having a fight with my sister that morning.
I spent a week in the hospital and hated missing that week of school. When I got back to school all my teachers asked how I was doing. I found out that my English teacher is diabetic too. I think she is type 1 but I am not sure yet.
This is a picture of me and Freddie:
