My name is Amy Yang. I am 8 years old and I will be in Grade 3 this fall. I live in Zhengzhou, Henan, P.R. China. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in October 2000, when I was just one year old. At that time I had two insulin shots everyday and my parents did the injections and blood glucose monitoring for me.
I have been on a pump since spring 2006. I love the pump very much because I can get my insulin injected by just simply pressing several buttons and my mom needn't rush home to do the injections for me everyday after she gets off from work.
Since spring 2006, I have also done the blood glucose monitoring all by myself. My parents felt so proud when I finished my blood glucose monitoring for the first time by myself, and my mom have hugged me for a long time. I love my mom and dad.
I have been playing the piano for more than one year. I love the piano and enjoy learning to play it.
I would like make pen pals from around the world, and I hope to make some new friends who also have diabetes.
