Hello my name is Rylie and I'm 6 years old and in kindergarten. I live in Anchorage, Alaska!
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in January of 2008 at 2 years old.
It was overwhelming for my parents. My dad was deployed and we were visiting my grandma in Spokane. I spent 2 days in the hospital and my mom had to learn all about how to care for me. My mom cried sometimes, but she knew God loved us and would provide.
When my dad came home they really had to learn how to count carbs, give shots, take blood sugars, deal with low and high blood sugars, and learn how to be parents to a little diabetic. I now have a an insulin pump (Animas ping) and we love it. Somedays are really hard for me and some days are easier. It's just part of the diabetic adventure!
We as a family trust in Jesus to be our daily strength and that is how we get through. And we pray for others battling this disease!
