The stories in this booklet are real. They come from families all around Saskatchewan who have been living with diabetes from 6 months to 12 years.
This booklet came to be because I craved contact with other parents - people who had been there, who really knew what it was like to have a diabetic child.
I hope this booklet of thoughts and stories filled that craving for you. If looking into our homes and lives helped you to smile, or cry, or get through "one of those days", it will have succeeded.
To our Doctors, Educators, Dietitians, and Counsellors: We certainly couldn't manage without you! If we are the Space Shuttle, then you are Mission Control. I hope this booklet helped you to better understand what life is like here in outer space. If it gave you even a glimpse past the numbers in our books, and the servings in our meal plans, if it helped you to feel a little of what we feel, then it will have succeeded.
