Do you or your child reuse lancets or syringes?Poll dates: August 22 - 29, 2004

Given the cost of diabetes supplies, many people find that reusing lancets and syringes makes sense. About two-thirds (64%) of our respondents reuse just lancets. 11% report reusing both lancets and syringes. Only 1% report reusing syringes but not lancets. Some people (4%) reuse lancets or syringes on occasion.
You can safely reuse lancets and syringes if you follow the guidelines outlined in Reuse Your Syringes and Lancets. See also Needle Reuse, which includes photomicrographs of an insulin syringe needle before and after reuse.
