People in the United States with type 1 diabetes are facing rising costs for their diabetes care. The price of insulin in particular has been in the news for some time. With uncertainty surrounding the state of health care coverage in the US, we asked our readers if this uncertainty has led them to stockpile insulin or diabetes care supplies. Eighty percent indicated that they are indeed stockpiling.
The last time we saw this kind of concern was in late 1999, and the concern was the Y2K Problem. Yet even then, fewer people were stockpiling supplies -- just under 50% according to our poll at the time.
