People in the United States with type 1 diabetes have been facing rising costs for their diabetes care for many years. The price of insulin in particular has been in the news for some time. With uncertainty surrounding the state of health care coverage in the US, we asked our readers if this uncertainty has led them to stockpile insulin or diabetes care supplies. Over ninety percent indicated that they are indeed stockpiling, an increase from last year's poll on this topic.
The last time we saw this kind of concern was in late 1999, and the concern was the Y2K Problem. Yet even then, fewer people were stockpiling supplies -- just under 50% according to our poll at the time.
