Are you interested in using a do-it-yourself, closed loop, artificial pancreas system?

Poll dates: December 12 - 19, 2018
Total Votes: 12

We in the type 1 community follow closely the progress of the many companies working to build a closed loop, automated insulin delivery system. Many companies are working hard to deliver fully automated insulin delivery -- and some include glucagon.

What if you could have a true closed loop system today? Well, you can -- if you're willing to build it yourself.

Beginning in late 2013, Dana Lewis and Scott Leibrand began work that would lead to the first do-it-yourself, closed loop, automated insulin delivery system: OpenAPS. Fast forward to December 2018 and the number of people using a do-it-yourself system has grown significantly. All you need is an old Medtronic insulin pump, a Dexcom CGM, and the willingness to tinker with a controller.
