The Austin Family, West Babylon, New York
Welcome to Ruby. Ruby is here to visit Erin (17) but she is away at diabetes camp in Stillwater, NJ. I will babysit Ruby until Saturday when Ruby will go to diabetes camp to be with all of the campers.
My mom came and visited camp today beacuse I had some free time. I am a junior counselor at Camp Nejeda for children with diabetes. The campers arrive tomorrow and I am really excited. Ruby is excited as well. Our bloodsugars were wonderful at dinner--that was good. We both had hamburgers and fries Ruby loved the pickle we got. We also got lost on our way to the shopping mall and landed up in Stroudsburg, PA, that is 45 minutes away. We bought some nice things while we were at the mall. We are doing laundry now with Erin's friends Rammah. We are going to watch a movie tonight when the television is available. We will probably watch something funny. Then eat our snack and go to bed. Tomorrow we will also me the cmap director who is very excited to meet Ruby. Good night everyone.
Today campers begin arriving. It is raining at camp--me and Ruby were sure to put our raincoats on. We had cereal for breakfast. Erin's sugar was high--she had to take a correction bolus and check her ketones when the campers began to arrive. It is the evening now. Ruby and Erin have had a real long day. We are both tired. Ruby and Erin enjoyed meeting seventy nine new campers. I really became attached to Ruby. It is nice to have a visit with her and I will definatley have to buy one when camp is over. We both had really long talks with the other couselors here--it is great. Everyone is making things fun for the two of us. We will talk to everyone tomorrow.
Me and Ruby were so busy we didn't have a chance to write in our journal yesterday. Today the boys and girls from camp went to the lake. I also went with Ruby. Erin got a dead fish out of the water because everyone was petrified. What in the world was I thinking? Ruby created magnificent sand castles we also had a lot of other fun activities to participate in today. Ruby and Erin are having a blast.
Ruby and Erin were awoken from severe storms. It was really scary. Since we sleep in the top bunk we relocated to the lower bed. Ruby is having a great day as ususal. This morning another counselor called 106.3 (a radio station) and have eveyone at camp a shout out. We especially enjoyed that. Now it's around noon and we are tired so we are resting for a while.
