Ruby arrived today in Windsor, England. She has come to stay with me. My name is Maisie and I'm 9 years old. I have had diabetes for nearly 2 years. I live with my mummy, daddy, little brother, Jack, and my cat Baggy. I was very excited to see Ruby. She is very pretty. It is 7:14, and we have checked our blood. It is O.K.

Ruby has been with me for a week. We have had a lot of fun. We went to see Monsters, Inc. It was good fun. I have been at school all week. On Monday after school I went to my best friend's Hannah's house. Ruby came, too. We had a really nice time. On Friday after school, I had cross country. After, I went a bit low. Next time I will cut my insulin down. On Saturday, I had my swimming lesson. Ruby watched. Ruby was amazed at how I could swim for 45 minutes. Ruby met my pal Sal (my best friend from swimming and ballet.) On Sunday we went to watch Jack play football. It was VERY COLD! On monday after school I went to a ballet lesson. Ruby enjoyed watching ballet! (She is impressed.)
Tuesday, I have come to see my nurse, Janice, to have a blood test. Ruby saw what a clinic is like in England (Windsor). Ruby came to school with me all week. She did her homework and got a prize! Ruby is going to Canada. We will have to say bye bye! I think Ruby enjoyed her stay. She made lots of new friends like Tilly, Sally and Hannah. I hope you liked staying with us, Ruby. I loved having Ruby. I hope you enjoy wherever you go next.
Lots of love,
Maisie Dawkes, X X 2nd March 2002
