Bridget Friend, Mississippi State, Mississippi
January 30, 2004
Bridget picked me up from the post office around 11 this morning. I am so glad to be where it's not snowing! Bridget says it's a little cold here today (45) and windy, but not like the rest of the country that's having blizzards. Bridget had to clean up her dorm, so I took a nap. Then we watched a little tv and I met Rufus. He lives with Bridget. She got him for Christmas.
Bridget lives in Mississippi in a little town called Starkville, while she goes to school at Mississippi State. She wants to become a Child Life Specialist and work with other diabetics. Tonight we went over to a friend's house, ate supper, and watched a movie. Then we came home and went to bed.

This weekend was lots of fun. Yesterday, I got to talk to Bridget's parents for awhile on the phone. They live in Nebraska and call every Saturday morning. We spent the rest of the day doing homework and studying for tests. Then, today we went to church and a couple Super Bowl parties. We had lots of fun and tried not to eat too much stuff we weren't supposed to. I got a little high, but Bridget has a really cool Paradigm insulin pump from MiniMed, so she was fine. Then we came home and got ready for school tomorrow.

Wow! I have had a busy day today. Bridget had lab this morning at 7;30, so I decided to stay home and sleep. Then we went to speech class. After that, we came home, studied for awhile, and then made lunch. Matt, Bridget's boyfriend, comes over for lunch almost every day so he doesn't have to drive home. Then Rufus, Bridget, and I went to the hospitalized child class. We were guest speakers. It was lots of fun! Everyone in there wants to be a Child Life Specialist. We got to talk about when we were diagnosed, being diabetic, and taking insulin. Bridget talked about her pump.

I am getting ready to leave Mississippi today. I have had so much fun. Bridget has even taught me a little German since I've been helping her study. She has taken German for 5 1/2 years and is majoring it in, too. We got to go out of town on Friday night. After getting out of meetings, Matt, Bridget, and I loaded the truck and drove for 2 1/2 hours to go visit Matt's grandparents. They went out on Saturday and worked cattle, but I decided to stay inside with Grandmother. Then we all just hung around the house because we were sick. Today, Bridge had to go to the doctor and then to the ER. So, we had a long day. Better go to bed so I can be ready to leave in the morning.
Goodbye, Ruby! I loved having you come visit.
