Back to Rufus Rufus Visits the Chase Family

The Chase Family, Charleston, NH
Tuesday, February 27th
Rufus arrived today! It was very cold today, I bet Rufus wishes he was back in Florida. Ryan got to open him and was glad to see that he arrived safely. Tomorrow Rufus is going to work with Michelle at the doctor's office that she works at and will get to see lots of patients and the employees there, as well as the doctors and nurses.

Wednesday February 28th
Rufus went to work with Michelle today. He sat on the counter with Michelle all day today visiting with patients (and trying not to catch the colds that everyone had). Rufus showed the girls in the office his patches on his body, and they really got a kick out of the cute patches on his butt! We took some pictures of Rufus in the office with the Digital cam, but the doctor had a very busy day and did not get to have his picture taken with Rufus. Tomorrow Rufus is hopefully going to school with Ryan and to the CDE with Ryan. The newspaper woman called and wanted to do an article on Rufus, hopefully she will be coming soon to visit before we have to send Rufus on to the next person.

Rufus went to school today with Ryan and had his picture taken with the 8th grade teachers aide, Mrs. Kyle. Mrs. Kyle has type 1 diabetes and has had it since she was 14 years old. She is getting a pump this summer. She is a member of the "diabetes club" at Ryan's school. Ryan is the only child with diabetes in the school but there are two adults with diabetes in school that help him out. We also went to the CDE today and Ryan learned how to adjust his Humalog to cover his meals. It looks like the honeymoon is over.

We will be sending Rufus off tomorrow to the Cleggs. Thank you for giving us the chance to spend time with Rufus. Bon Voyage, Rufus!
