The Hampton Family, Williamstown, NJ
Friday, September 7th
Rufus arrives in Williamstown, NJ! HOORAH!
Home of the Hampton Family: Stephanie 10 (dx 8/99), Lindsay 7, Charlie 13, Sharon-Mom, and Charles-Dad. I was so excited when Rufus got here. I have been waiting a long time to meet him. I helped Rufus settle in and showed him around the house. We checked his blood sugar, then we relaxed. We had a busy weekend ahead of us.
Saturday, September 8th
Today we took Rufus to the Jersey shore. We had a fun time on the rides and playing games on the boardwalk. Rufus even won a stuffed teddy bear! We had a little Jersey-Shore fudge. Rufus doesn't have a pump like me so he just had a little bit. I think Rufus should get a pump.
Sunday September 9th
Today we went to my Mom's company picnic at Clementon Park. We rode more rides and played more games. Rufus and I were trying to check our sugar a lot this weekend since we were very active and had a lot of good picnic food. Rufus told me he wants a pump like mine.
Monday September 10th
I decided to make Rufus a pump like mine so he can see how it works. He was so excited! RUFUS IS PUMPING!
Tuesday September 11th
Today was a very scary day for Rufus and everyone. Some planes crashed into the world trade center in NY and the Pentagon building in Washington, DC., also a crash in Pennsylvania. My Mom said that some bad people called terrorists from another country did it. I saw a lot of fires on TV, too. Even though these terrible things happened today, my parents told me not to worry, that we are safe. I gave Rufus an extra big hug. We are very sad about all the people who got hurt. We hung up a flag to show that we support our country. Rufus and I said a special prayer tonight and asked God to protect us.
Wednesday September 12th
I introduced Rufus to my friend, Michelle. She lives next door, and she knows a lot about diabetes. Sometimes she checks her blood sugar when I'm checking mine even though she doesn't have diabetes. She is a good friend, and Rufus liked her a lot.
Thursday September 13th
Today is my Dad's birthday. Rufus helped us celebrate. We had a special dinner and some birthday cake. Our blood sugars were a little high tonight so we both had extra insulin and drank some water.
Friday September 14th
Rufus went to school with me and met my friends and teacher. They all liked him so much.
Saturday September 15th
It's time to say goodbye to Rufus already. We had a fun time together. I will miss him. I hope he enjoyed his visit to New Jersey.
