We had an early trick or treater this afternoon in the mail. Rufus came to visit. Megan was already at her friend's house as she was going with her friend trick or treating for Halloween. I drove Rufus over to her, and she thought he was the cutest little guy. Megan was a baby for Halloween and she had a little teddy bear. but now Rufus was going along with her. Rufus went house to house with Megan and they got a lot of candy. Megan and Rufus tested often since they would snack on candy every once in a while. They both had good blood sugar levels since they were doing so much walking and running. They got back to the house and Rufus was so tired from all the excitement he fell fast asleep.

It's a beautiful day in California today. Dad went fishing, and Megan was out of school. She walked to her friend's house and showed off Rufus. They walked across the street to the elementary school and went to her old teachers and showed them all Rufus. Megan talked to the class a little bit about diabetes and what Rufus stood for, and Megan showed off her insulin pump to the class. The kids were so interested and had so many questions. Megan loves to educate anyone who will listen. Later we took Rufus to Grandma's house where dad and papa caught some big fish. Rufus loved seeing the big fish.

This weekend Megan and Kayla had softball tryouts. Rufus got to sit with mom while we watched tryouts. Megan took off her pump while she was trying out. Rufus and I had Megan come check her blood sugar often since she was doing so much exercising. Rufus check his blood sugar too and he was 130, but Megan was 90. We gave Megan some Gatorade and checked again in a little while. All the girls trying out kept coming up to Rufus and wanted to hold him. He was getting passed around so much everyone wanted to take him home.

It's pretty quiet around here today. This morning Megan and Rufus got up and checked blood sugars. They were both in range. They ate French toast and milk and about an hour and half later Megan didn't feel right. She was 310! She bolused for breakfast but we don't know what happened. We gave Megan a correction bolus. Rufus' blood sugar was 160, so he was doing ok. The rest of the day they just cleaned their room and played outside.

Well, we packed Rufus up and took some pictures with him. He's ready to go to the next family. It was pretty sad saying goodbye. We really enjoyed having Rufus come for a visit. It made diabetes fun for a little while. We really are going to miss having you around Rufus!
