Rufus arrived this afternoon. The mailman probably wondered why my mom was yelling, "Hurry, Kaleigh, the mailman is here and I think he has Rufus!"
I think Rufus was happy to get out of the box again. It's been over 100 degrees here for several days so he was happy to get into the air conditioned house. My family enjoyed looking at Rufus' journal and keychain collection to see where he has been.
Saturday, July 21
Rufus went with us to our grandparents' house in Minneapolis, KS. He stayed there and kept their dog company while all of our family went to my cousin's wedding.
Sunday, July 22
It's another hot day in Kansas! We're just trying to stay cool!
Monday, July 23
I had to go get my allergy shots today so Rufus went along. He thought the needles were bigger than our insulin needles. Ouch! Then we went to buy a special Kansas keychain to put on Rufus' backpack. It has a sunflower on it because that is our state flower.
Tuesday, July 24
Today I had a dentist appointment. Rufus went along, but was too shy to have his teeth checked. I had a very loose tooth, so the dental assistant pulled it for me. Rufus is going to watch for the tooth fairy tonight!
Tonight we went to the Salina Country Club for family bingo night. Rufus and I didn't win, but my sister won $15.
Thursday, July 26
Rufus went with us to Minneapolis again. My mom, my sister, my brother, and I all got our hair cut. Rufus didn't get his fur cut. He likes his fur just the way it is.
Monday, August 6
We haven't been too good at making journal entries, but we've been having a great time with Rufus. We didn't get Rufus shipped before we left for vacation, so we took him along with us. He got to go back to Colorado! Our family went to Vail because my sister and brother were both playing in the Got Milk? 3v3 regional soccer tournament. My brother's team got 1st place! Rufus thought it was much cooler in Colorado than in Kansas. It's still over 100 degrees here.
We're getting ready to send Rufus on to Iowa. He has been very brave about his blood sugar checks and his shots while he has been here. I hope he continues to have a fun journey!
