The Mabe Family, Clintwood, Virginia
Hi! My name is Robyn. I'm 8 years old and was diagnosed when I was 7. I had a doctor's appointment today. Guess who was waiting for me when I got home? Rufus! I was so excited to see him. We were both very tired, so we hit the sack.
Rufus and I checked our blood sugars, got our shots, and had breakfast. Then, we had school (I'm homeschooled). Rufus said his favorite subject is English. He really enjoyed the story I wrote. I was going to take Rufus to see the horses, but it started to rain. Oh well, maybe tomorrow. Later, I introduced Rufus to my neighbor, Michael. After supper, Rufus when with us to youth group. I introduced him to everyone there. My mom took some pictures. We had our bedtime snack and checked our blood. Mine was 85 and Rufus was 109. I had a glucose tab. Mom will check my bg again in a little while. Good night Rufus!
Mom said I was low last night (47 and 67). She had to give me juice twice! The doctor changed my evening NPH. It might be too much for me. I'm glad Rufus is here. Rufus and I went horseback riding! He rode my horse, Princess.
Rufus and I were both low this morning. I was 55 and Rufus was 57. Mom gave us some juice before our shots. I came back up to 143 and Rufus was 150. We had our shots and breakfast a little late. Mom is going to call my doctor to see if we need to change the NPH. Time for school! T.T.F.N.!
After school, we went swimming at the college in the indoor pool. Rufus tried on the new goggles I got for Christmas, but he didn't swim. He decided to just watch and help the lifeguard.
It's Saturday! Today Rufus and I are going to watch cartoons and just hang out.
We went to church today. I got to introduce Rufus to my Sunday School teacher, Ms. Beka. After we came home and had lunch, we spent some time with our horses. Rufus ended up with horsey hair all over him! Mom had to brush it off. My bg's are still all over the place. I get low, and then get high. Rufus says, "been there, done that."
Today was really exciting! A newspaper reporter came to see us. She took pictures and everything!
My bg's are still low at night. Mom decided to decrease my evening NPH by 1 unit. We all hope that it helps. Sometimes it seems that no matter what you do, it is still hard. My hamster died today. Rufus and I are really sad.
It was really cold today. Rufus said he is looking forward to the warm weather in California. I wish I could go with him. He said he will miss me a lot. We love you Rufus! God Bless you and all you visit.
