Back to Rufus Rufus Visits the Stewart Family

The Stewart Family, Antelope, California, USA
January 4, 2003

He finally arrives! Rufus took the slow boat from Canada to California to visit the Stewart Family in Antelope, California (a suburb of Sacramento, the state capital). Bailee is 5 1/2 and was diagnosed about one month before her 3rd birthday. Bailee's older brother, Austin, is 6 years old. They both attend Town and Country Lutheran School where Bailee is in kindergarten and Austin is in first grade.

While we didn't take Rufus on any major excursions, he enjoyed lots of everyday life with the Stewart Family. We brought him along several times to church and school, on shopping trips, and to Bailee's best friend, Romy's 5th birthday party. The party was great! We went to a local children's theater to see 'The Continuing Saga of the Three Little Pigs" and then out for pizza. Needless to say, we had high blood sugar that night!

We hope Rufus has safe travels and brings joy to all the kids living with diabetes that he gets to visit. We pray for a cure every night and hope that you do the same.

Safe travels, Rufus!

Love, Julie, Chris, Austin and Bailee Stewart
