Hi, I'm Jeff Hitchcock, founder and president of Children with Diabetes with important news for everyone in the CWD family.
I'm pleased to tell you that Children with Diabetes is now part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies.
Since starting CWD in 1995, our online community and conferences have grown dramatically. And so have our needs.
By teaming up with Johnson & Johnson, we will have the support and resources to grow in new ways such as extending our online community, increasing the number and locations of our conferences, and providing more resources to the families we serve.
While we're now part of a larger health care company, our charter remains unchanged.
We will continue to be an unbiased, independent voice for the diabetes community providing the latest science-based education and support.
As always, you'll be able to participate in our chat rooms, our forums and our conferences.
And we continue to encourage support and participation by ALL companies involved in diabetes-related research, products and services.
Now, I would like to introduce you to my friend and partner at Johnson & Johnson, and former acting Surgeon General, Dr. Ken Moritsugu. Ken is the chairman of the Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Institute and former Surgeon General of the United States.
Dr. Ken Moritsugu
Thank you Jeff. On behalf of Johnson & Johnson, I want to say how delighted I am to welcome you and Children With Diabetes to the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies.
I stress the word family because as a person with type 1 diabetes, I consider myself a member of the CWD family.
When I was in the Surgeon General's office, I spoke at some of the Friends For Life conferences and met many of the attendees. So I've seen first hand what a profound impact CWD has on this community.
At Johnson & Johnson, we're also committed to creating a home for the diabetes family, so Children with Diabetes is a natural fit and welcome addition.
I look forward to working with Jeff and his team to ensure that we nurture and protect what has made CWD so unique and special while growing in new and innovative ways to better serve this community.
I want thank you all for making Children with Diabetes what it is today and encourage you to continue to be active members. I promise you it will be an exciting journey.
