  1. Readers are encouraged to participate in the 2010 DiabetesMine™ Design Challenge. Three $7,000 Grand Prizes will be awarded.
  2. Applications for the 2010 College Scholarships from the Diabetes Scholars Foundation are now online. At least seventeen $5,000 scholarships will be awarded. Applications must be submitted by May 15, 2010. This is a one-month extension.
  3. Make plans to attend CWD's Friends for Life: Orlando 2010 International Conference, to be held at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Florida from June 29 – July 4, 2010. The Diabetes Scholars Foundation is offering family scholarships for CWD's Friends for Life: Orlando 2010 conference.
  4. Make plans to attend CWD's Friends for Life Canada: Vancouver 2010 conference, to be held at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside in Vancouver, BC, Canada from August 27-29, 2010. The Diabetes Scholars Foundation is offering family scholarships for CWD's Friends for Life Canada: Vancouver 2010 conference.
  5. Make plans to attend CWD's Focus on Technology: Charlotte 2010, to be held at the Renaissance Charlotte Suites Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina, from September 3-5, 2010. The Diabetes Scholars Foundation is offering family scholarships for CWD's Focus on Technology: Charlotte 2010 conference.
  6. CWD's Friends for Life: UK 2010 Conference, to be held at the Beaumont House Hotel and Conference Venue in Old Windsor, Berkshire, England from October 29-31, 2010, is sold out. If you would like to be on the waiting list in case space becomes available, please contact Laura Billetdeaux at .

    Our son Nicholas, age six, was diagnosed on November 12, 1999 when he was four years old. He has been absolutely wonderful about dealing with his diabetes--NOTHING stops this child. He started pumping on November 9, 2001. We went to his Endo appointment this past Wednesday. Before we left we were sitting in the living room and he looks at me and says, "Mom what does cure mean?" I explained that it means when scientists and doctors find out how to stop a disease or problem and then it's gone forever. He looks at me with this silly expression on his face and says, "Well do you think that you can tell Dr. Yaw to speed things up a little?"
