Recently diagnosed, our daughter’s blood sugars remain over 250 mg/dl [13.9 mmol/L], eating 50 to 60 grams of carbohydrates with each meal. She likes to snack throughout the day. Can I give her six small meals/snacks throughout the day?

Two-year, 11-month-old little girl in emergency care, fever and vomiting over the past 48 hours. Physical exam: Lethargic, ketone breath, urine tests: glucose +++, ketonic bodies ++, leukocytes +++, nitrites ++, blood sugar 220 mg/dl, leukycytosis with left deviation, and elevated CRP. My daughter (one-year-old at the time) presented in the ER with a blood sugar of 36 mg/dl, and ketones in her blood. They gave her glucose via IV, and her blood sugar jumped to 200 mg/dl. She was fighting the flu, and was also dehydrated. What could all of this mean?

I am currently in the process to adopt a sibling group from Latvia. The girl, who is 11 has type 1 diabetes. I am looking to find where I get educated and training on how to care for a child with this type of diabetes. Is there any online class where I can get any type of certification as proof of training, that I can submit to Latvia?
