Amanda Jo was in first grade when she drew a picture of what she wanted to be when she grew up – a girl singing on the radio. Skip ahead 20 years, and a diabetes diagnosis later, and Amanda signed a record contract with Winter Records and released her single, Polaroid, to country radio. Motivated by the work of a group of passionate diabetes doctors, she wrote the song Needle Free in collaboration with a fellow type 1. Nothing brings her more joy than combining her love for music and her love for people with diabetes. Join us for a casual meet and greet and enjoy some live music.

Kerri is a passionate advocate for all-things diabetes. She is the creator and author of Six Until Me, one of the first and most widely-read diabetes patient blogs, reaching a global audience of patients and caregivers. Her first book, Balancing Diabetes (Spry Publishing), looks at type 1 diabetes in the context of “real life” and her second book, a poetry anthology titled Rage Bolus, will be released in a few weeks. Kerri has lived with diabetes for 34 years. She has experienced a full childhood, the teen years, the college experience, and now pregnancy and parenting, with diabetes along for the ride. Kerri aims to spread a message of hope versus fear through the power of social media, advocacy, and storytelling. Join us for a casual discussion with Kerri.

How Control-IQ Technology Works on the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump
This video provides a brief overview of how Control-IQ™ technology works with your t:slim X2™ insulin pump to help manage your diabetes on a day-to-day basis by predicting and helping prevent both highs and lows. The video explains how Control-IQ advanced hybrid closed-loop technology is designed to help increase time in range (70-180 mg/dL)* using Dexcom G6 CGM values to predict glucose levels 30 minutes ahead and adjust insulin delivery accordingly; including delivery of automatic correction boluses† as needed.
*As measured by CGM
† If glucose values are predicted to be above 180 mg/dL, Control-IQ technology calculates a correction bolus using the Personal Profile settings and a target of 110 mg/dL and delivers 60% of that value. It will do this up to once per hour as needed.

Indications for Use:
t:slim X2 insulin pump
The t:slim X2 insulin pump with interoperable technology is an alternate controller enabled (ACE) pump that is intended for the subcutaneous delivery of insulin, at set and variable rates, for the management of diabetes mellitus in people requiring insulin. The pump is able to reliably and securely communicate with compatible, digitally connected devices, including automated insulin dosing software, to receive, execute, and confirm commands from these devices. The pump is indicated for use in individuals six years of age and greater. The pump is intended for single patient, home use and requires a prescription. The pump is indicated for use with NovoLog or Humalog U-100 insulin.
Control-IQ technology
Control-IQ technology is intended for use with a compatible integrated continuous glucose monitor (iCGM, sold separately) and ACE pump to automatically increase, decrease, and suspend delivery of basal insulin based on iCGM readings and predicted glucose values. It can also deliver correction boluses when the glucose value is predicted to exceed a predefined threshold. Control-IQ technology is intended for the management of Type 1 diabetes mellitus in persons six years of age and greater. Control-IQ technology is intended for single patient use. Control-IQ technology is indicated for use with NovoLog or Humalog U-100 insulin.
Contraindications and Warnings:
WARNING: Control-IQ technology should not be used by anyone under the age of six years old. It should also not be used in patients who require less than 10 units of insulin per day or who weigh less than 55 pounds.
Control-IQ technology is not indicated for use in pregnant women, people on dialysis, or critically ill patients. Do not use Control-IQ technology if using hydroxyurea.
Users of the t:slim X2 pump and Control-IQ technology must:
- be able and willing to use the insulin pump, CGM, and all other system components in accordance with their respective instructions for use;
- test blood glucose levels as recommended by their healthcare provider;
- demonstrate adequate carb-counting skills;
- maintain sufficient diabetes self-care skills;
- see healthcare provider(s) regularly; and
- have adequate vision and/or hearing to recognize all functions of the pump, including alerts, alarms, and reminders;
The t:slim X2 pump, transmitter, and sensor must be removed before MRI, CT, or diathermy treatment.
