CWD President’s Medal for Innovation

Children with Diabetes is proud to announce the first CWD President’s Medal for Innovation. The award is presented to the health care professional(s) that exemplifies extraordinary leadership in using innovation and advancements of technology for insulin delivery and devices that help people with diabetes live a normal life. The annual award recipient(s) have been selected by CWD President Mr. Jeff Hitchcock from a list comprised of health care professionals within the CWD community.

The first recipient(s) are Moshe Phillip, MD, and Tadej Battelino, MD, PhD.

Dr Phillip is the director of the Institute for Endocrinology and Diabetes, National Center for Childhood Diabetes at Schneider Childrens Medical Center, Petah Tikva, Israel, and a Professor of Pediatrics and Vice Dean for Research and Development at Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University, Tel-Aviv, Israel, and Dr Battelino is a professor of pediatrics and head, Chair of Pediatrics at the Ljubljana Faculty of Medicine, and the head of Department of Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the UMC-University Childrens Hospital Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The solid silver President’s Medal will be presented to each recipient on the occasion of the Annual ATTD Conference in Barcelona, Spain. Each President’s Medal also has a cash award that will be made from CWD, in the name of the recipients to the organization or charity of their choice.

“Based upon the work and shared advancements made in diabetes the past decade, the leadership demonstrated by Dr Phillip and Dr Battelino, and the ATTD Conference, and its positive impact on the lives and families of children living with diabetes, we are proud to present the first CWD President’s Medal to Dr Phillip and Dr Battelino,” stated Dr Kenneth Moritsugu, RADM, Former Acting Surgeon General of the United States and Chair of the Board of Directors for Children with Diabetes.

Children with Diabetes is the world’s most recognized patient and family driven advocate, on-line resource, and organization, providing children and families with the shared experience of living with diabetes. On the occasion of ATTD, Children with Diabetes will hold a reception and award dinner presentation honoring Dr Phillip and Dr Battelino..
