Looking to participate in a clinical trial to help move the needle on diabetes research in 2020?  Here are some trials that are currently looking for participants, or will be in the very near future:

  • Closed Loop From Onset in Type 1 Diabetes (CLOuD) – The purpose of the study is to use a novel treatment approach, the artificial pancreas, after diagnosis of type 1 diabetes (T1D) to improve glucose control with the anticipated improvements of residual C-peptide secretion.
  • DiabetesSisters, along with the ADA and the ASCES, have requested additional information about Fasting in Diabetes Management to further a previous study.  The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete, and you do not need to be female to participate.
  • A PhD student at the University of Strathclyde Glasgow is studying experiences of physical activity and technology for adolescents living with type 1 diabetes and their supporting others, using the PHOTOVOICE method. Take the questionnaire to start the participation process.
  • Sansum Diabetes Research Institute (SDRI) announces the creation of a new study, Living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic, and is currently accepting research survey participants.
  • Children with Diabetes is proud to support the National Type 1 Diabetes Healthcare Providers COVID-19 Registry Project Website. All T1D Healthcare Providers caring for patients with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 are encouraged to participate by submitting non-identifiable data to the registry. The questions can be completed in less than 10 minutes. Please submit any T1D COVID-19 case using this link: Survey Site. There is a central IRB approval in place. The approval letter, project protocol, survey questions for reference and FAQs can be found here. For additional questions, contact [email protected].
  • A clinical trial at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at UB is seeking patients aged 18-65 with Type 1 diabetes whose hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C), a measure of sugar in the blood, is between 7% and 10%. Participants must be in the Buffalo area.
  • The team at Lilly Diabetes Care are currently seeking children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes to participate in a multinational clinical trial. Participants must be on multiple daily injections using an insulin pen or syringe. This study will compare an investigational ultra-rapid insulin to current treatment in controlling blood sugars. Find criteria and other details here.
  • T1D Exchange is conducting interviews with older adults (over age 55) with type 1 diabetes and caregivers of older adults to better understand the challenges, needs, and barriers that older adults with type 1 diabetes and their caregivers face in the United States.
  • A clinical trial, funded by JDRF, has been established to explore the combination of insulin, an SGLT inhibitor called dapagliflozin and approved for use in adults with T1D and the GLP-1 receptor semaglutide in adults with T1D.
  • A team from Ohio University seeks parents of children with diabetes for a study on Parents’ Experiences with Caring for Children with Diabetes
  • Be a part of the T1D Exchange Registry to help accelerate discovery and the development of new treatments, and can potentially inform policy and insurance decisions.
