With COVID-19 changing the way we connect and learn from our community, there are a number of virtual events taking place in the coming days. Here’s a snapshot of some events that may be of interest, including some from our own CWD team:
Children with Diabetes is hosting Spread Out the 5K during the month of May, a virtual 5K (registration is FREE – sign up below!) to keep our community safe and active, while also providing a way for us to stay engaged virtually with one another. This effort is part of #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
The JDRF is hosting a Facebook Live event and Q&A on Wednesday, May 6th at 6pm ET with Sean Salmon, EVP and President of the Diabetes Group at Medtronic who will be discussing how Medtronic is helping the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community through the COVID-19 pandemic. Sean will also be joined by Dr. Robert Vigersky, Chief Medical Officer, and Kim Larson, National Clinical Director.
Join us for a live chat with T1D mom and college consulting expert Kristina Dooley from Estrela Consulting. She will be discussing the state of college admissions, current challenges and considerations for families during this time, and answer questions about expectations and realities of higher education moving forward.
Author and advocate Kerri Sparling (@sixuntilme) talks with three moms from the Tidepool team. Join us for this pre-Mother’s Day coffee chat about diabetes and keeping our sanity as we shelter in place.
From telemedicine to remote coaching, a virtual revolution has occurred and we may never go back. Fueled by necessity, this change is putting health maintenance in peoples’ hands in their own homes. Join us to learn how leaders in medical devices, remote coaching, and telemedicine recommend harnessing these technological revolutions in the context of COVID-19.
Join Dr. Trang Ly, Medical Director at Insulet, to find out what’s happening at Insulet during the COVID-19 pandemic.
And of course, you can sign up for our Virtual Friends for Life Orlando – we’ll be announcing our schedule of speakers and special events soon!
