My son, diagnosed about five months ago, has had two spot urines which showed protein. A 24 hour urine test was normal, and they are doing another 24 hour test. The doctor keeps asking if he’s really active, and says not to lose any sleep over it. Well, I have definitely lost some sleep over this. If the 24 hour test comes back normal, what could this mean?

I am a 45 year old male with uncontrolled (blood glucose 18-25 mmol/L [180-450 mg/dl] or more) type 2 diabetes for the past 15 years, and nothing seems to work. Also, I was recently diagnosed with chronic hepatitis and lately, I’ve had a lot of gastrointestinal symptoms alone with high urine protein and ketones.
