I have gestational diabetes and I am about 37 weeks along. My sonogram showed the baby was at 92 percentile and weighed about 7 pounds 11oounces already! I am diet controlled and have mildly elevations of blood sugar occasionally, but apparently these mildly elevations have already done harm. I am very concerned about what kind of bad things could happen to a baby this size.

Does the need for insulin affect the likelihood that I will develop ‘real’ diabetes at some point?

I am 16 weeks pregnant and had a positive urine glucose test. The doctor didn’t say much, but I am worried. I piling on weight, and I have been extremely tired. My doctor won’t do anything unless she sees two or three more positive tests. However, I am concerned that, if I have gestational diabetes, the baby will be harmed by then. Am I worrying for nothing or should I be concerned?
