My two year old daughter was diagnosed with diabetes about a month ago, and prior to this she was on steroids for five days. Her A1c was 7% and her insulin was 4. Now, two weeks later, and for the second time her insulin has been discontinued and levels are great. Is there a possibility this could have been a false positive because of all the medication she was on prior to diagnosis?

But today before breakfast she was 164 mg/dl, then 318 mg/dl, and before lunch 235 mg/dl. She took 17 units of Novolin and 4 units of NovoLog, and we’re trying stick to the meal plan as close as possible. Why did this happen? What am I doing wrong?

My daughter takes five and half units of Lantus daily, plus one unit of Humalog per 15 grams of carbohydrates. Is she still in her honeymoon? She had a “slight” reaction to wheat at her last test for celiac. If we alter her diet, will she still get celiac?

How long can the honeymoon phase last? If he has good control now, will my son continue to have good control? Or, is his control related to his own insulin production?
