I have a 14 year old so who has had Type 1 diabetes since age 9. He is now taking insulin shots regularly. Is there a form of tablet or something to replace the shots? How about pancreas transplant?

He saw a local doctor who put him on metformin blood pressure tablets, cholesterol tablets, and, he is taking a tablet for sinus. His general health is now terrible, constantly ill. I believe with diet and exercise, it is not necessary for him to have medication at this stage, so long as the sugar level is kept under control. I have asked him to go and talk to the Diabetes Centre so that he may be reassured of his state of health. What do you think?
