Question from San Francisco, California, USA:

Both of our kids have Type 1 (3 and 4 years old). They go to a private school that claims the IDEA law does not apply to private schools. They will not take care of their lunch shot and barely agree to emergency treatment. Is that right?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

The law does not apply to private schools unless they receive federal funding, although there have been precedents where courts have said it does.

I would try to educate them and see if that will help. Try getting a member of your diabetes team to go with you.
