Traveling

Question from Salisbury, Massachusetts, USA:

Can traveling to high altitude affect blood sugar readings?

Answer:

Glucose levels should not change markedly with altitude unless there is associated altitude sickness.

[Editor’s comment: Sometimes there might be problems with blood glucose meters at high altitude. Your husband should be sure to check his meter with control solution to make certain it is functioning properly. He can also contact the manufacturer to see if this is an issue with his particular meter.
