Question from Brazil:

Could a person with type 1 diabetes who has seizures from low sugar getting develop full-blown epilepsy as result? I’m asking it because my friend is getting seizures more and more frequently with low (but not so low as before) sugar.

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Can lows cause brain damage? Yes. Can this lead to seizures without being low? Yes. Could it just be seizures and not related to lows? Yes. The bottom line is your friend needs an evaluation by his/her doctor.
