I know that type 1 diabetes is associated with a variety of other autoimmune conditions such as celiac. Do you know of any association or relationship between type 1 diabetes and the autoimmune condition immune thrombocytopenic purpura, also known as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura?

Answer:

There is no association with ITP or TTP. Type 1 diabetes mellitus is associated with thyroid problems (Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and hypothyroidism as well as hyperthyroidism), Addison’s (adrenalitis) autoimmune adrenal insufficiency, celiac, or positive gonadal antibodies.
