Question from Cooper City, Florida, USA:

I have diabetes and a growth disorder. I am on growth hormones and it is very hard to control my blood sugar. Does diabetes affect your growth? What will make it easier for me to control my blood sugar?

These are important questions to discuss with your pediatric endocrinologist. Yes, poorly controlled diabetes can impact negatively on your growth. But, many things can affect growth.

Growth hormone and puberty hormones can help you grow, but indeed can make diabetes control harder. You need a real understanding of the plan and need to confer better with your pediatric endocrinologist!
